Battlefield 3 Key Binding issue fix, specifically the jet.

UPDATE: http://bf3.realmware.co.uk/settings-editor/downloads since update 2.3 released on January 5th it pretty much does everything now.

In fact the second was nice benefit as I use ‘E’ to spot and ‘Q’ is how I enter/exit vehicles. The key binding issue in Battlefield 3 comes down to they didn’t necessarily hard code the controls, they just didn’t have the rebind function, do all the commands it should. You can clearly see this in the ‘q’ spotting article. Now the reason I had to write this key binding article the jets. So when I bind a key to decelerate other than ‘s’ you will see that ‘s’ will still decelerate, even if it’s bound to something else. I use a variation of an old quake config that I can’t play first person shooters any other way. [Space=forward, a=backwards, s=strafe left, d=strafe right]. So for me ‘s’ is going to be yaw left which it did, however it would also decelerate. And if I set ‘A’ to throttle down, it did nothing, unless you were in SU-39 Frogfoot which if you were in third person you can see the air brakes deployed. Yet in first person you can clearly see they are not slowing you down with your speed on the

When binding the throttle down BF3 needs to be patched so it actually binds the following, which You can add into the config.

^this is the throttle down that will actually help.
Cool so I did all this and I should be good to go, ‘A’ will not decelerate, but ‘S’ is still slowing me down as well. That brings me to my next discovery that “GstKeyBinding.gunner” keys actually affect the jet.
So I needed to do the following
GstKeyBinding.gunner.ConceptMoveFB.2.axis 0
GstKeyBinding.gunner.ConceptMoveFB.2.button 30
GstKeyBinding.gunner.ConceptMoveFB.2.negate 1
GstKeyBinding.gunner.ConceptMoveFB.2.type 0
I didn’t have to bother rebinding the rest of the gunner as far as I know, I have not had it break anything.

So let us break this down.
GstKeyBindng = letting the game know this is a key binding
Gunner/vehicle/jet/infantry/etc. = This lets the game know what instance to use this binding in
ConceptMoveFB = This lets the game know what kind of binding it is (side note: FB, most likely stands for forward Back)
2 = it’s the 3rd (because the count starts at 0) key that is bound to do this action
Axis/button/negate/type: a little more explanation needs to go here.
Axis = This is where I am not at a full understanding, this is more for editing mouse movements, joysticks, and controllers. Since this article is focused on keyboard/mouse, axis 0 should suffice.
Button = they key, or joystick button that the action is bound to i.e. 30 on the keyboard is ‘a’
Negate = for FB 0 is forward because it’s not negated, and if its negated with ‘1’ its backwards. And for LR(left right) or YAW, 0 is right, and left is 1.

The keyboard buttons, it starts at tilde which is ‘1’ which 2 is ‘1’ also based on full keyboard.
And it counts from there, however it doesn’t appear to count all the keys in order either.

New Post Same Subject

The Title says it all, and look my last post was in August, its now November there has been a little bit of an update in the whole Live account situation. They unlocked my account in the middle of September which means I can play games now. That is all I can do with my live account, I can't buy DLC or MSPoints from the dashboard, 1. Because its in Russian, which I don't read very well 2. DLC purchased there doesn't work on United States consoles (so I 'm told).

Since they had an "engineer" confirm to me that I would be fine registering my new GFWL games to my gamertag, I thought the same should apply to NTSC Registration codes. So now when I buy my DLC for my account I go through GameStop, and I thought GameStop selling DLC was idiotic.

current account status: my possession but Russian.

Zune: can't log into the software or device

Windows Phone 7: Not supported in Russia either. (feels the need to tell me I have 7 updates, but when I click on the marketplace says this region is not supported.)

Anyway.

Life in general has been alright, but speeding up in a way I am not sure I appreciate. I goto work, play games, party, and pretty much repeat. I throw some family time in their. There are things I am starting to want again which should be healthy.

Live account still not in my hands

So called xbox again this week, 1st on Sunday then Today...

On Sunday, they agent informed me that it usually takes 22 business days for an account to be restored to its owner... fine but considering Sunday was 8/14 and my account was hacked on 6/30 and I called them that day, kind of disappointing they don't even make their own standard. Then it turns out that "this" investigation didn't start until 7/17 which even then that puts the 22 day make to 8/16 ... so whats up? Well she said by her calculations that I should have my account back by this week, cool finally I will be able to add some arcade games to my collection (I am not about have those split up on different accounts I want to play some god damn fruit ninja kinect). Well today is Friday and I have heard nothing so I contact Xbox yet again no update. So Microsoft I can also see I am not alone in this mess http://www.lockergnome.com/game/2011/08/15/xbox-live-hack/ and reading some of the comments in that article it seems like people got their account back in 3 weeks.... well cool story bro. What is taking you so long, are you that backlogged with hacked accounts? Figure this out.

Quakecon Woooooop

Ah the yearly gathering of geeks. Probably the main think I look forward to in a year. 8,000+ attendees this year. We are outgrowing the venue yet again. This is usually a good thing. Work is going alright I enjoy the shift just not the time it takes place. What I mean by that is 12-9 is a shift where less work is required, because well its just not as busy. However its 12-9 and I don't get home till 10-ish which means people are already doing something (hard to cut in the middle sometimes) or they are done for the night. I guess one thing is nice if I do go out its not that big of a deal if its late. And midnight showings of movies. I've got to say Quakecon is getting a little more commercialized than I like, yet at the same time I have to encourage that. I want this event to stay free (even thought I spend money on it because I support it). Commercialization is how Quakecon will thrive and I am happy for ID.

Thinking of picking up either a brand new hobby or get back into an old one. Need to do more physical activities. I mean in between gaming sessions of course.

Well I have always been a PC gamer, but I have also always branched out because I tend to play everything. Now just a thought here I know if y'all have read any previous blog posts then I am pretty perturbed at Microsoft right now for their poor handling of my breached account (putting it nicely). PSN was down a month+. And PC Gaming... completely independent on one service, granted Steam has become the center for a lot of gamers, but thats natural. I remember other services quite well that I use to flock to. Gamespy3d(arcade), Mplayer, HEAT.net(I believe sega owned this, or bought it), MSN Gaming Zone, and there were some more, I just didn't really frequent them. I guess you could count Xfire. The more I think about it, I miss HEAT.net, not the lag obviously, but the lobby system was pretty cool. Anyway the entire point of this post was blatant love for pc gaming, and how no matter how many times people say its going to die, it never will.

A letter to Microsoft

You may know already I have been hacked, and Microsoft's response in the matter has been horrible, note:not the agents, the polices and account management, especially for a PAID service

"Dear Microsoft,
My account was compromised June 30th, With 6000 MSP points purchased using PayPal, and my account ported to Russia. This was annoying of course because I was out money, however I reported this issue to PayPal, and my money was refunded instantly! Now using your recovery system via the web I was able to access my account, perfect PayPal gave me the money back and I have my account. My account was in Russia though so that presented a couple of problems as I tend to use the entire Microsoft ecosystem. Since Zune is not in Russia therefor my Zune's functionality has been drastically reduced, so much so I can't even download free podcasts, through your software. I love my Zune and with this my experience has been drastically reduced. Free shows you guys have given me throughout the years I no longer have access, and the few songs, and tv shows purchased I also no longer have access too. Moving on to Windows Phone 7, I recently acquired an one of these and love it! I do not use it as my main phone, but I was hoping after Mango releases that I might. I can't even use it as my main phone now if I wanted to. Those 2 issues seem somewhat solved with a new account you say, but my content won't transfer over, and I don't want a new account, My identity on the net IS Stealthgyro so much so I own stealthgyro.com. Now okay this should be an easy fix, just log into my account and change it back to the United States, but you can only do that once a year. Fine, maybe Customer Service could help me out, and understand the extenuating circumstances and get my account back to United Sates. Since I had called them within hours of noticing the account was compromised. So there was already an investigation going. Then the customer service department left me a voicemail I believe Thursday the 14th. and actually got to talk to them on the 15th. And they essentially had some news for me, hey your going to get a free year of xbox live (even though I just got 10 months stolen btw) and a 100 Microsoft points for your new account since your old account was corrupt! Well thats not good news, as it was tried to be delivered as such. I have had my account for 5 plus years, which was great because I had my little 5 on my Gamertag which I was very proud of. Thats just not gonna work. I have quite the digital purchases on my xbox, roughly $100 in Rock Band/Guitar hero music. DLC for Halo 3 or Reach. DLC for Gears of War 1 & 2. And I am sure I could go on, in fact I provided customer service with the best itemized list I could provide in short notice. Not to mentioned how y'all changed the way Games For windows live keys work, and they are actually registered to the gamertag, therefore my copy of Dead Rising 2 that I purchased through steam is actually useless now because I can't use that key anywhere else. I have purchased Shadowrun on my the GFWL marketplace as well, what happens to that?! if Worse comes to worse unlock my account I'll port it back to the United States in a year fine! gimme a year membership for an alternate account in the meantime, but even that is just horrible. Also Achievements, yes its an arbitrary number, yet its genius for example I might get a game on Xbox over another system simply because I can get achievements, seriously why else would I buy Fruit Ninja on my Windows Phone 7. What else is there, I guess its a good thing I didn't start using my Sky Drive because I apparently would of lost that too. For reference the Customer service department recommended I use the Contact Us link. The e-mail address provided is the e-mail tied to my Live account. For the record I may even be missing things that I don't know about, I could of plain forgot. I want my account my social on zune, my friends list on xbox, my records, my music, my tv shows on zune, my podcasts, my windows phone 7 apps, This is all My stuff. I want MY account back."

hacked and being a neighbor

New job, best description meh, both ups and downs, started out with downs which sucked, but today was really good. So Xbox, PayPal, and my Gamefaqs accounts were all compromised, those 3 accounts used 2 passwords between them, so I have since changed many many many passwords. Lets start with the experience on this.

1. Gamefaqs - they told me right away hey looks like you've been compromised before you can post again try changing your password using your old password (worked surprisingly) then fill out a form, and explain how you got hacked... well honestly I didn't know, but I have a sneaky suspension it has something to do with the lulz boat's 50 day journey. If you don't know LulzSec has been on an antisec ride being funny, hurting innocent bystanders, and educating the public in security. Now I really do find them hilarious and appreciate there work, and hell its educating me and I am already security-conscious, just wasn't cautious. (sorry about the tangent)

2. Paypal - After calling Microsoft about a charge on my account (we'll get back to M$) they recommend I call Paypal as well. So I call Paypal and informed me it was not my Paypal debit card as I thought it was, it turns out it was my actual PayPal account that was compromised, so holy shit, I change the password and security question as requested, by the agent. The money charged by Microsoft was refunded IMMEDIATELY. Kudos Paypal kudos.

3. Xbox live (Windows live, windows phone 7, zune, GFWL) - I use my live account a lot. So the first thing the Hacker or perhaps a script kiddie that obtained my password from the lulzloot. They buy 6000 MS Points, which are weirdly not on my account and I am really confused especially since the Microsoft e-mail had my Gamertag in the body of e-mail (yea I kinda have my account back :-/ kinda). so they buy points, then what do they do Microsoft's new feature of course exporting your account to another xbox supporting region like Russia, yep they ported my account to Russia so anything that comes over Xbox live or windows live is Russian... oh and tech support said its probably not possible to get it back to the United States, and xbox website says only one move every 12 months, so there is a good chance I will have a Russian account for A YEAR!!! this means Live features are disabled, Xbox may not let me download certain things, even if I could read Russian. Zune flat-out is not supported as Zune is not sold outside the United States so guess what no more Zune Social. Windows phone 7 may be coming to Russia this Fall so guess what is happening right now I don't have access to the Marketplace and other awesome features the reason I bought and HD2 and hacked it for WP7 that I can barely use now.

I think I am more mad at how the hack is being handled by Microsoft than any hackers themselves, I've had my Blizzard account compromised in the past and its relatively harmless to get it back. Paypal Best experience ever with a compromised account(I don't feel like I have had a lot of these but still enough to make a judgement)

Okay the being a neighbor, more specifically being an upstairs neighbor. Now I like to enjoy my music, movies, and video games, with loud bass and sound. I want to have parties and be loud, but wtf I feel guilty about this. When I try googling on how to damper subs in an upstairs apartment, all I get is people bitching about their upstairs neighbor, well jesus I don't want to be that guy, but I am. oh well I guess the best I could do is try and put a towel under the sub and try to be considerate. I really like to enjoy loud stuff though.

Well I am back in the job market, I actually turned down 3-4 jobs before interviewing for this one, and I was hired later that day pretty awesome. Its exactly what I made before with what appears to be a lot more room for growth. Temp to perm instead of just temp. I have had an interesting 2 weeks of unemployment though, and in a way I needed that little vacation, I just didn't need the absence of money. Well I sold my Nexus one on Ebay, winning bid 195, a little disappointing, but technology moves so fast so its good I got that, Craigslist people weren't really offering shit, except one guy offered me to a Nexus S trade which would of been worth it, but I need the cash. Well I will definitely be living some city life, I've decided I will be taking the rail everyday to work still driving to the station, but I still think this is the best way to get there. I guess I am little bit all over the place and I think I have been drinking way too much, but I still have plans to do it next weekend, perhaps after that I may take a little break.

Well the inevitable happened, GameStop laid me off, they kept me longer than pretty much any other contractor, and I gotta give credit to my managers for keeping us as long as they did. There is still a possibility I could get some real work there as long as a bone is thrown. First thing to do as an unemployed individual. 1. File for unemployment✓ 2. Post at least one item for sale✓ (My old Nexus One on Craigslist, since I have the g2x now.) 3. Look for work ✓ already called my contracting firm so they will be on the lookout. I will probably do my own job searching as well, but currently I think I will take a day or two off just to do it.

Life Changes, I might

Goals, Friends, Hobbies(maybe not a lot of change here), relationships, family, and everything else. Everything changes, whether its a little or a lot. Amazingly I am still at the "temporary" job so thats not to bad there. Of course I still game, I finally beat Darksiders, great game by the way. Family that I was never close too I am making an effort to do so, it seems that I should, true I feel kind of obligated, but I want to as well. Relationships, well anyone who knows me knows why this is mentioned. Friends, I am always happy with my circle of friends, even though it dwindles from time to time, but receives new ones occasionally. I want to broaden my circle lately, in also perhaps an attempt to locate a new relationship. Goals, well I keep making bets to loose weight, and I think I have shown pretty good discipline so far. Only water to drink, very seldom have I eaten after 7pm, and when I do I try to make it light, or stay up a little longer to digest. No fast food, a lot more cooking, chicken, pork chops, sauce, and eating things like soup, fruit, and yogurt. first 2 weeks of begging my goal to loose weight I worked out every single morning even if it was only sit ups and push ups I did something, I kind of fell off the wagon there. I did have shin splints at the begging of this as well, I believe those are finally getting better and I can begin to run and really shed the pounds. Well honestly I know I am a horrible writer, and my communications skills are atrocious. So perhaps if I write a little bit more I can mend that, someone also suggested I start reading more novels, but A.D.D. might make that a little difficult, perhaps I'll listen to that book "Driven to Distraction" for a little help.

Life Choices

You make them everyday, just some are bigger than others. I am working at a great job now, but I know its temporary, however I am too comfortable to really change. This could end up in a downward spiral, or it could really turn into something great, it definitely has started networking for me. The More people you know the more chances I have to get a ahead... just knowing the right people. Can. this be analogy for many other things in life? yes.

I need to get my Cisco cert... just to start but what else do I need out of life, this is a little more philosophical then my normal posts, but I have just had a lot on my mind lately.

well anyways lighten this up a little bit watching the episode 2 of The Walking Dead right now... pretty damn good I must say, kinda lol'ing (spoiler alert) at the whole Shaun of the Dead-ish scene where they are acting like zombies... well they did a little more than that they have to actually smell like the zombie by covering themselves in Dead zombie flesh...yummmm and oh shit its raining.

Drowning in connectivity

yes that was a title for one of the podcasts I listen to on the TWiT network. Its a good statement thought and I am probably guilty of this, I Google everything, I validate people statements way to often now. To some they don't appreciate it, well thats who I am. I should be getting a Nexus One finally I have been wanting it long enough, my job is going great... sadly still a contractor, basically means that I am more expendable than anyone who actually works at Gamestop. I really don't know the point of this post, but does there really need to be one sometimes its just good to write, even thought I can't write for shit right now, I guess my writing skills go away when you don't use them... well don't use them correctly because with facebook and twitter updates, you don't write for a professional audience you are writing for a much more personal one.... well I own stealthgyro.com ... would be nice if I owned my actual name, but for the most part thats all taken. yes it just takes you here for now at least I don't know if I plan to change that in the future probably not. I am still thinking of doing a website, but so far thats all it is "thinking". alright this post has become pointless for the most part, I was writing a self wish list, and was like hey I'll write a quick blog post.

Cheap Laptop and Ubuntu

The following message is brought to you by Ubuntu, one of the most user friendly Linux Distros. I can do a lot of basic stuff, and all for free and Legit... I just can't fully convert yet as much as I would love too. Yes there are answers for pretty much anything if it isn't working right away on linux, weather its drivers or software, the "it can't be done" phrase is almost eliminated in linux, however if its not meant to be, its either a pain in the ass to get it to work, or it just doesn't work right, but it does work! I really wish one day that browsers will be almost like virtual machines and be completely platform independent, but we are not there yet. Shockwave and Silverlight for instance, just don't run on linux, not without moonlight(a meh linux port of silverlight) or running Shockwave in Wine&windows version of firefox. For reference I am using a Dell Inspiron E1705 Laptop that has a core duo intel intergrated graphics HDA... 1gb of ram (ddr2 553 or 667). Not bad considering I got it for 60 bucks, it was kinda beat up, so bought a new screen for $90, hard drive for $50, and ac charger for ~$10. I would love to run this laptop soley on Ubuntu, but I have to have some sort of flavor of windows on here, I chose XP(I also might do Hackintosh in the future which took almost an entire day to do the Quad boot I have on my Desktop [Vista,XP,Leopard,Ubuntu).

So XP runs Quake Live around 80-90 fps on I believe High settings, Ubuntu has a Weird Sound glitch with ALSA UnderBuffer or something to that effect that produces a crackling effect, which also drops my frames to about the teens to 30 fps, no matter what my video settings are. There is a forum post about this in the Quake Live forums and I have tried every command on all 15 pages (as of today) Posted in that thread.. nothing worked. I have always been under the impression games written for both Linux and Windows, that the Linux version will run better. World of Goo, that runs fantastic, they even sell a Debian version of the game which is no different than running a windows install its awesome. I will probably try some other games on this Laptop, yes its a Laptop its not for gaming, but I am a gamer and it doesn't hurt to have it with you to kill time, I also plan on checking out how emulators run on Linux vs Windows.

All this for the most part is not Linux's fault, its developers, corporations, and truthfully inertia. Yes I through in Physics. Windows works, its worked for a long time, corporate America uses it. Mac worked in the beginning and it stopped for a little bit, and Windows worked better, and Apple has never recovered fully, OS X worked and was Macs comeback, but still nothing to the windows market.

So whats the real point of this post? nothing just like most of these blog posts they are just an opinion/review... this blog is maybe read by 3 people, and the random Googler. I love the idea of openness and I have tried to get into linux in the past and never really could and after SUSE took nearly a weekend to install and still wasn't done I said Fuck it. Now since Ubuntu has gotten so easy to use, and you only need terminal commands to troubleshoot some stuff and take care of a few things its great, but it has also acted as a gateway. I am now going down the rabbit hole and going to check out all the flavors of Linux I can, probably starting with what Lifehacker has their top 5.

I could write about this all day, and I really need to have a conversation with someone who knows what they are doing, but most likely that won't be until Quakecon when I see my "extreme geeky friends".

^before I realized twitter is about search and conversations... but hey we all learn, now well obviously blogging. Also getting back to my roots a little bit as well, or rather just something I use to do all the time as a kid, and thats actually bookmark or add things to my favorites, in fact I have dozens of old backups filled with bookmarks, but with google able to find everything I want instantly and the fact that i am a fast typer I kinda stopped using bookmarks, however I am not that great of a typer on the phone and therefore entering urls and such on a phone is not so much fun, so I am starting too bookmark again, and while doing this why not use syncing software/services of course google bookmarks is the first thing I am using, however there is no real easy way to sync that with the bookmarks that chrome stores.. which is weird. delicious I would like to use, but I am just annoyed that I don't own stealthgyro@yahoo.com, I did however snatch up stealthgyro@ymail.com, but that just sucks, .... and to be sure I have tried every password I have used in the past 15 years to try and open that email account up, and the forgot your password thing is not working, most likely because if it really is my account I put a fake birthdate/zip code on there.... but I don't think its mine, because I have a long list of ancient e-mails I use to have, but its not listed. anyways that was a rant and I would like to own that stealthgyro@yahoo.com

Okay this is really hard not to do... especially when the betas are so close to a games release... and well core gameplay is actually not going to change, yes they may fix the connection issues, lag, and even perhaps some balancing, but all in all not going to fix if I really like the game. so Battlefield Bad Company 2, is the game I am referring to currently referring too. However, what I have said applies to most betas. The game already has its flaws for instance the M9 handgun is currently the best sniper in the game or any gun period I can't tell you how many times I died to that freakin gun while I was sniping a tiny little spec on the map. Also there is no prone... yes, NO PRONE... well this is not a review of the final game, because I quite enjoyed the campaign of the first one I felt it had charm, well after the frustration of playing a beta I was so looking forward too I needed to vent... yes I will probably play it again towards the end of the beta just to see if they fixed the many issues I have already pointed out. thanks for reading

Nexus One

I am so excited... and its all based on the rumormill, but so many blogs and news sites advertising some of the information from the rumormill almost adds confirmation. So far I believe all the leaked specs are correct. Multiple sites (probably still only 1 source) say release of January 5th, and quite possibly $199 or $100 for "old" Google users hopefully I qualify, which brings me to another point that Nexus One might be invite only at first which also should apply to "old" google users which I have had Gmail since 6/21/2004.. only a coupe of months after its release. So Google if you are reading this please let me be worthy enough for the invite to purchase Nexus One. Don't get me wrong my G1 is good, but its not perfect. Also I plan to start developing on Android, if anyone has any tips let me know I will also be on XDA for help and etc.

I am still in training for my new job.. yea its a lot of training and the final test will be Monday! pass that and then I start answering phones then in a week I'm working a new crappy Schedule... which is cool I will be able to get it changed in 90 days and once I show I am excellent I should have first bid. Anyways I got my google Wave invite today! woot, looks like quite a few went out today, couple of my contacts showed up on there as well, and well I had to invite a couple people next to me.. because I was checking my e-mail at work... yea bad idea. and wave wow... Its a chat room with missing features, I really am not sure what to do with it.... its really cool, I think it will almost be better as a website builder with a friend than anything else, maybe when I get a lot of people in a wave the purpose will change for me. short terrible grammar post today.

Yea so I've been a little preoccupied with things to write, however I thought about writing quite a few times just never really got around to it. Well anyways I started my new job last week 10-26-09 w00t! and so far so good I do believe I am the youngest person out of my hire group(class).. yea there is this 5 week class that we go through for a "Major Telecom Company that has a contract with Telvista" I am actually not aloud to say what company it is, however I believe telvista's website has all their contracts *cough*. So blockbuster is completely done with and what was my store is suppose to become and "permanent outlet store" which means they won't rent, but not close either even though on my last day we got store closing signs... upper management is still lying to my once fellow employees that the store will not close. We'll see and honestly I would love it to stay open. Anyways maybe not working their I will actually stop talking about the old BBV well until I get a combo movie or game pass.... So I've got a 2nd xbox 360 nice and modded to play my backups... and honestly its great for lanning as well instead of buying the game twice (I do own a legit copy of these) I just hate split screen that much....

I thought I would be bored of my phone already, but new roms and apps continually come out.... now I still get jealous about newer phones coming out especially that Verizon is getting the new DROID which is just amazing, yet I am sure that when my contract is up there will be absolutely amazing phones out... now T-Mobile was DOWN yesterday... all over the united states effecting (they said 5% of their customers) yet twitter and message boards... lead me to believe that it is way higher than that.

Sudden stop here I am not fully sure how to end today's post, other than I am going to make my Girlfriend some dinner and pamper her tonight she has had a rough week with her "new" job (had for a few months) so shes already to job hunt... but I am hoping to relax her some tonight...

Hey by this title you should know I did finish that resume, and well I did get a job. I will be working at Telvista.. its a company that contracts out technical support, so essentially I will be Verizon FIOS technical support. This job looks very promising I start out with pretty good pay and after 90 days it goes up a dollar. The first month is class which sounds pretty cool, however it is way early in the morning starting at 7 (thats usually the time I wake up for work now) then I get to choose whether to do my 40 hours in 5 days or 4 days! thats good news I believe I will be going with the 4 days 10 hour shifts.. I mean why not you are already there whats 2 more hours and then have a 3 day weekend! I may be getting to excited about this job but I really don't hear any bad things about it... the benefits are good, full time, and there are companies that love to hire from Telvista, so I could easily work my way up with this job, its a great foot in the door. Well now it looks like I gotta get to writing my two weeks notice for Blockbuster...

once again I am writing in my blog to try and get my mind the writing mood (which I always do listening to the Nine Inch Nails Ghosts albums). So I really enjoyed blockbuster as a company except some of the more nasty customers and retarted decisions the company would make every now and then, but the worst part (the reason why I am leaving) is because even though I am a manager I am not a store/sales manager I am technically part time although for the past 2 years I had been working 40 hour weeks, so now it turns out all of a sudden I can't get more than 32 hours a week that basically comes down to 200 dollars less a month to an already strict budget, so I'm gone as of the 24th I shall no longer be employed at Blockbuster (23rd should be my last day).... I will miss certain things about the company yes, however I won't really mind finishing up this chapter in my life.

Well just like my title says I should be writing a resume, but I need to think right now. I've notice blog writing can be difficult to write if you have to write something, however since I have no pressure to write or really and audience to please I can use it to brain storm. So basically my resume is kinda meh at best, just need to write a nice little Objective section as well as a interest section. Thinking 1-3 sentences about needing a job to gas up my life some how for the objective. As for interests I was thinking about talking about my computer interests and the fact that I am a conversationalist and enjoy talking to people as well as learning. So I guess now I need to word it perfectly and with the correct grammar.

How this all started well... it started a while ago, I mean my first blog post is about trying to make money. My current employer who will be named (remain nameless sounds cooler though), Blockbuster has made it very important that I do not work more than 32 hours a week, because my title is officially a part time and not full time, even thought I have worked 40 hours a week for pretty much 2 years. Holidays are coming up as well as other things coming out.... So I am going to get a new job, I have to. So after listening to some TWiT I am going to work on my resume some more and perhaps apply at some places just in case "resume jobs" don't work out so well.

Alright this weekend was awesome and not awesome, it was awesome because we had a soaking we kegger, and it sucked because we had a soaking wet kegger. So I enjoyed the party I just have a problem with getting all my clothes all mudded up having to clean them and sleeping in a leaking tent. There were some marine buddies in town, plus my usual peeps that I hang out with so really it was awesome. That was Saturday night to Sunday morning, don't worry if you want to check it out the pictures are under the PARTY section in my picasa which were there really quick.

I want a new job and a change, now don't get me wrong I am very happy with my life, but things have to get moving. I am not really meaning college, but I do want to get some certifications like A plus and CCNA, which I am positive I could walk in and pass the Aplus no problem, but I will make sure to study both before I go in that way I have a less chance of failing and wasting the cost of the exam. My job is meh I like Blockbuster, but things just happen that more and more make you want to move on so I want to. Publishing this post could just give me that incentive, because quite frankly my manage looks at facebook and my facebook has my friendfeed tab on my profile and she can find it, but I really don't think she will, not that its a problem if she does. I just want a new job.

Now the internet is amazing... access to tons of information at my fingertips... and well google simplifies it all. Since I've gotten my G1 cell phone I have been living in the cloud, I update my calendar, contacts, documents, and pictures all there, I have not gotten to the point of paying for it yet (already at 50% with picasa and I have not been uploading full resolution pictures either). Lately I have not been trying to simplify everything as you will notice the friendFeed embedded to the right. With this there will be redundancy and this post will show up there, but I feel that's not a big deal. I actually titled this the interwebz, because well that's what I am doing creating this web of my crap essentially. In a perfect world everyone would use all the stuff I use and just be happy with it. It would be great if all my friends used google calendar, but they don't. So I add applications to facebook for my picasa and google calendar, to make my life easier, yet they still don't seem to check it ... and that sort of defeats the purpose now doesn't it? I could always make my friendFeed update my facebook status as well, but from what I people hate that, and I don't need to broadcast to everyone, whenever I play a game (because my raptR now updates friendFeed) I have considered the ping.fm route, which can be good for a variety of things, but I don't necessarily like the way that works, and some people find it impersonal.

My wish list (since not everyone will use everything) would be that there will be more and more intergration with everything on the web, and Facebook connect is an excellent start. so to stay in contact with me is pretty easy, because I try to use everything I hate AIM, but raptr has it integrated so why not. Well the internet is calling me and I need to ruin my attention span some more.

Quakecon! and everything else

Well Quakecon was freakin awesome. This year I was a little bit lazier with qcon, because I decided to skip the Wednesday night preregistration and left saturday night. Which normamily I preregister Wednsesday night go home sleep show up thursday and go back and forth to the event until Sunday afternoon. This time went Thursday morning registered then and stayed till 4 in the morning friday, came home slept a few hours went back to qcon around noon Friday then did not leave until Saturday night 10pm-ish. This was my 7th Quakecon. My Quakecons=2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2007, 2008, and 2009. 2004-2006 I was a kid and my dad and grandpa were no longer interested in Quakecon, plus I was focusing more on my kickboxing as well. Hopefully I will be able to goto Quakecon every year and look foward to my 8th year in 2010! I had a lot of fun, but I do regret not taking any pictures, because well I brough my camera and everything, I was just to busy having fun. So I don't really have anything to show you. Another thing I only got 2 free shirts and neither one of them are the main Quakecon 2009 shirt!! WTF?! I guess I will have to pick one up next year or ebay (just checked didn't see any *gasp*)

I am not a news reporter nor do I necessarily want to be the more I think about it. I would like to blog, but honestly writing is not really something I always enjoy doing. So I don't think I'm gonna keep up with a lot of sites, in this already very competitive market. For instance in tech news I try and follow 2 blogs, but already they are so good and so fast that I usually end up reading about new things twice I couldn't imagine trying to compete with those (Gawker's Gizmodo and engadget) ... grr I get so lazy with my posts, when I originally had a lot more effort into it, but I guess I'm going to just chill and write run-on sentences and not care.

Wow just wow I am going insane I have had a project with my computer with the past couple of days. Guess what it all started with purchasing that junk hard drive. Well I did return it and picked up just a terabyte for about 40 bucks less and its working out perfectly. I needed the space for Quakecon coming up and of course I just wanted it anyways.. so I backed up all my data on it except one drive that I don't format because it clicks already need to keep it safe. I know this post already is not a polished one I will get to that in a minute. So I started my hackintosh project and of course I wanted to run linux as well with windows XP and vista64 or win7RC64, but I was having serious problems getting them to run all under one bootloader without changing what hard drive was booting first yada yada. So after some research I have found Vista has improved (before I used it for DX10 testing and Shadowrun/halo2) compatibility has gotten better even though 64bit is almost the larger issue for that rather than vista itself, but I want it to show all 4 gigs of my ram is that so bad? Don't get me wrong I love XP and in fact I think I love 7 above both of them, however xp doesn't do about 4 things I want it too. win7x64 doesn't have true ambx support yet, reports of it working but I can't get my setup working. I have my premium Phillips Ambx kit and I'm going to use it!! so long story short I finaly got chameleon (hackintosh bootloader) to do everything and settling on one copy of windows so my triple boot setup is Ubuntu, Hackintosh OSXLeopard(Aiktos it does update), and Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit. So I wasn't doing a lot of tweeting, facebook, blogging, or checking up on some of my favorite blogs with google reader, such as kotaku, gizmodo, engadget, and lifehacker. OH MY GOD the internet moves fast, and of course I know this, but holy shit I try to at least glance at every story if not read the whole thing and watch the most likely video link that comes with it. It was so overwhelming that I actually felt angry trying to read it all. So I said fuck it and told google reader to say it read it all, and I did not backlog any tweets either trying to catch up. This is why this post is unpolished and the english is atrocious I am in this angry mode now and just need to vent, at the same time its why I'm blogging right now instead of trying to catch up with the internet, So I'm going to listen to Twit and its summary of the internet and use that as a filter right now, because otherwise I might go insane

once I calm down I'll do another post probably about my hackintosh build or something, a little more readable oh if I read this post later in life there is a good chance I will delete it lol...

First of all, I have some ideas for blogs I might incorporate some friends and make a sort of review/rumor site... basically blog, but unified. Well mine would probably would be tech related.

My review of the shitty 1.5TB Barracuda Seagate drive.

Okay you can see where this is going just by the title of the review. Okay no this is not going to be a drawn out long review, because well it was DOA which I can deal with, until I started to read more about this drive (I bought it on impulse). One customer had bought 4 for a raid and 3/4 failed. Thats only a 25% success rate(yes I submitted a review on newegg as well). Alright my closing statements this is my fifth? seagate drive in my lifetime, different models not just this one, they all fail within one year accept one 10GB that I still have and is functional.

Having a relaxing morning

I kept waking up early, because I have been opening for work all week. I had to actually force myself to sleep in some so I would not be so freakin tired at work. I am trying to get into the habit of writing regularly, so when I start blogging about specific categories I will be able to keep up with it. I have ideas going all through my head and I just need to start putting theme somewhere so I don't loose them. I've got this new app on my G1 called the Budget Droid, and I've got to say its pretty cool, a nice simple way to keep track of all my money that I spend since I'm so poor right now I need to do this, I should of done it a long time ago with a pen an paper, but carrying a checkbook or journal all the time is annoying. So that is a reccomendation I have if you have an Android phone, but I'm sure there is one for the IPhone. Nikki just bought me some new shoes and a watch yesterday, they aren't my typical style of shoes, but I like them and they are comfortable. The watch, I just miss having a watch, especially when I am driving, trying to check the time on my phone is not the safest thing to do in a car. Lets brag about Nikki some more this morning she made me coffee and let me have some of her breakfast (I made myself some too, but she gave me half her sandwich). I think I am about to take out the trash as soon as I convince myself too, then I'll have Nikki go with me and we can walk the dog.

Quakecon is coming up, and I can't wait! Although I am not sure I'm gonna have enough money for a terabyte drive before I go... I really need(want) one before I go, because I know how much crap I will be downloading in DC++. This is going to turn into a wish list lol. I want the ZuneHD in September(rumored) and a 16gb MicroSD class 6 card for my cell phone I did buy a 16GB card but it was a class 2, and realised that's slow, I should of researched ahead of time, but I was in too much of a hurry. I am sure I could go on, but I'll save it all for another post.

I have a shirt that says just that, and it is more true now than ever, of course if I could take back the 10-15 dollars that shirt cost right now I think I would do it. I'll post a pic of me in that shirt on picasa probably soon. Today I go to work do pretty simple tasks have chit chat with the customers clean the store make it look pretty, and that's about it except when no one was in the store I made sure to turn on my Zune and listen to some TWIT podcast, great show if you never listen to it one of Leo Laporte's better podcasts. He sits around with generally eduacated guests who know what they are talking about, with recent tech news, I'm a geek so I find it facinating. Doing that today, made the day go by so much faster, in fact I would say I had a good day at work, also thanks to no grumpy customers. I leave work today to see my wonderful gas tank pointing at the letter 'E' so I decide to pull into the gas station, but before I start pumping I pull out my G1 (kinda bragging) and check out my bank account (no longer bragging) I've got about 24 bucks in there OUCH! now I did return something I bought off of Newegg so I am waiting for an RMA to go through so that should help a little. That was an impulse thing I wanted for my phone, which I will get later, but right now cash is more important. I put 20 dollars in so basically I've got 4 bucks till Friday... oh yea rent is due Saturday guess what there goes my paycheck. I might have a little change, but I gotta save that for other bill throughout the month so basically my entertainment is going to be my new phone and the Internet... I think I can handle, but I think I should stop reading tech and gadget news otherwise my want mode will kick in. If you know any quick way to make some money, or provide me with business to repair/mod PCs/Consoles $50 labor generally which is negotiable based on what exactly the problems are, so basically could be more or less, because of parts etc. details can be provided. Don't have a cool closing statement yet, but I'll work on it.

Well I am no stranger to the Internet or Internet memes, fads, and traditions. Social media has been around for years, but has had recent explosion thanks to myspace, facebook, twitter, and YouTube. However, we cannot forget BBS's and IRC. I've been blogging since before blog was a word, now I didn't realise this until later in life, but when I was younger I would run websites just for the fun of it and one of them I believe is still running http://www.angelfire.com/realm/zonex/ that was pretty much my last one that is still up either way. I have ran a few websites directly from my computer using IIS, but most of those don't last very long and I just don't have the time sometimes. Back to blogging my news section on my angelfire site is truthfully a blog. xanga, friendster, livejournal, okay there are way too many ways to blog and be apart of a community, but there is a good chance I've done maybe 25% of them I've got over 20 email accounts (finally settling on Gmail because well Google is awesome). I have gotten a nice little introduction into this blog, basically I have decided to be an entrepreneur and perhaps get my little piece of the Internet and make a profit, while doing things I am passionate about or talk about things I'm passionate about. What you will see from this blog is probably me talking about the good old days of the Internet such as HEAT.net and also looking foward to great prospects like ustream and qik, and of course links to videos and perhaps even diary-esc entries after all this is my personal blog. I also plan to start other more specific blogs perhaps ones focusing console repair, PC help & repair, music, movies, games, and who knows what else. I'm broke working at Blockbuster video looking for a second job or a good full time replacement, this is all done in my spare time and at the moment there is absolutely no money in it for me, but there shouldn't be for personal blogs anyways. hope you enjoyed this . . . below is a look into some of my spare time at the moment.
